ADDED launches “Monitoring and Inspection through Bicycles” initiative to economic facilities

The Abu Dhabi Department of Economic Development (ADDED) has launched a foot patrol initiative to monitor and inspect the economic facilities in the emirate of Abu Dhabi through bicycles equipped with all the requirements of inspectors. This move aims at accelerating awareness-raising and monitoring operations and at the same time contribute to enabling the work of inspectors.

H.E. Rashed Abdul Karim Al Balooshi, Undersecretary, ADDED emphasized on the departments’ keenness to implement initiatives that support its supervisory role on the business sector in Abu Dhabi, noting that this initiative aims to enable the monitoring and inspection visits in local markets through the multiplicity of tools and means and speeding up awareness and reducing abuses, particularly within the current circumstances imposed by the repercussions of COVID-19 pandemic.

H.E. further stated that using this bicycles method will enhance the inspectors’ easy movement and speed in inspecting shops and buildings that are crowded, in addition to ensuring a speedy response to the complaints received by the inspectors. This method will also contribute to guiding shoppers on applying social distancing measures in front of shops and limit their gathering.

H.E. Rashed Al Balooshi stated that this initiative focuses on intensifying the monitoring and inspection patrol visits in all the targeted areas to contribute to enhancing awareness campaigns and monitoring the abuses of commercial facilities in doing business. The initiative will play a key role in  organizing the shoppers’ movement in light of the precautionary measures and instructions to curb the spread of COVID-19 disease, which forms a new addition to ADDED inspection team which support and facilitate the work of inspectors in the field.
