• Text-based distinctive names, including trade, brand, or product names as well as signatures, letters, or symbols.

• Graphical elements like drawings, pictures, engravings and forms, colours and signs.

• Trademark protection can cover three-dimensional aspects like packaging.

• The UAE jurisdiction allows protection of other marks used or intended to be used to distinguish the goods or services of a facility from the goods or services of other facilities.

• A trademark protection of 10 years applies until the trademark requires renewal.

Trademarks that are well known and whose reputation has exceeded the borders of a country require specific clarification as to whether such a mark can be registered in UAE.
