Takamul
Launched in 2011, Takamul is a UAE innovation programme developed and operated by the Abu Dhabi Department of Economic Development (ADDED) to support inventors and promote innovation across the country. Takamul focuses on making the UAE one of the most innovative countries in the world by promoting the innovation cycle, from the generation of ideas to the practical implementation of these ideas into commercial activities. The programme supports inventors from different categories and levels, and spreads awareness on key aspects of innovation, particularly the legal aspects of Intellectual Property.
Abu Dhabi SME Champion Programme
As part of the incubator and accelerator activities, the The Abu Dhabi SME Champion Programme aims to bridge the gap between large companies, government-related entities, and SMEs by enabling SMEs to engage private procurement opportunities to scale their business. The initiative is delivered via Abu Dhabi SME Hub, SAP, and FAB.
Abu Dhabi SME Hub
Abu Dhabi SME Hub is an interactive digital platform that enables changemakers to explore market news and trends, learn how to build companies, and be part of a mission-driven community. AD SME Hub consolidates the local business ecosystem, with the goal of enabling entrepreneurs to grow, thrive, and innovate in the UAE, providing curated and co-created SME-tailored content from a wide variety of expert educational and industry partners and sponsors.
Setup in Abu Dhabi
Spearheaded by the Abu Dhabi Department of Economic Development in partnership with Creative Zone and over 22 partners, Setup in Abu Dhabi supports entrepreneurs and investors with everything they possibly need to launch, sustain, and grow their business in the Emirate. Setup in Abu Dhabi takes care of everything, from choosing the correct jurisdictions and legal structures to offering easy banking solutions, tax and accounting, HR, and legal support.
The Setup in Abu Dhabi platform is operated by Creative Zone.
UAE Innovates
UAE Innovates is a nation-wide celebration and one of the largest innovation festivals in the world. Launched in 2015, it has become a yearly flagship event in the UAE. UAE Innovates is a consolidated effort by the government, the private sector, and individuals to help create a widespread culture of innovation. Novelty, the evident difference between the proposed solution and other existing solutions, and one of the patent prerequisites is applied as an award criterion.
Business Incubators
In the UAE, several incubators offer their help and support to start businesses, providing access to networks, strategic partners, investors, funds, entrepreneurs, logistics, qualifications, and advice.
Government accelerators such as Ghadan 21 emphasise the integration between federal and local government entities, the private sector, academic institutions, and NGOs, with the purpose of driving innovation and ultimately achieving the UAE Government's ambitious plans.
