In Abu Dhabi, advanced manufacturing entails the integration of state-of-the-art technology, including high-tech tools, automation and robotics, data analytics, and advanced materials, to enhance products and processes. The outcome is heightened efficiency, elevated product quality, greater flexibility, and reinforced sustainability. 

Abu Dhabi’s strategic geographical position, sophisticated transportation, logistics infrastructure, favourable business conditions, and strong governmental support have led the Emirate to become a thriving manufacturing and export centre. The industrial sector contributed to 16.5% of Abu Dhabi’s non-oil GDP, and represented 51.3% of manufacturing sector in the UAE, which contributed nearly AED 197 billion to the UAE’s GDP in 2023.

National initiatives that prioritise advanced manufacturing

Made in Abu Dhabi

Launched by Abu Dhabi’s Department of Economic Development, the Made in Abu Dhabi campaign promotes trustworthiness of products made in the Emirate. The USD 100 billion trade initiative ensures the inclusion of the Made in Abu Dhabi brand on all industrial licenses granted to factories and manufacturing companies in the city. The initiative targets the placement of the Made in Abu Dhabi brand on 3,340 local products from about 888 factories, with a total investment value of AED 369.32 billion (USD100 billion).

Make it in the Emirates

Make it in the Emirates’ is an open invitation to investors, innovators, and developers to contribute to the UAE’s industry and advanced technology strategy, Operation 300 Billion. The ‘Make it in the Emirates’ annual exhibition and conferences promotes the uniqueness and quality of locally made products and encourages local and international investors to manufacture and export products from the UAE.

Operation 300 Billion

Led by The Ministry of Industry and Advanced Technology (MoIAT), ‘Operation 300 Billion’ positions the UAE as global industrial hub by 2031. The strategy supports local products and suppliers, while promoting investment in research and development and incentivises the adoption of advanced technology in the UAE.
